January 2014 - Sierra Scoop Column

It is hard to believe that yet another year has gone by and it seems to have passed so quickly. While many things have been accomplished in 2013, there is still more work to be done in 2014.

With a new management team in place, I believe that communication is the best that it has been in many years and we are all working hard to make it even better. The cooperation between the County and each Community is running high and more is yet to come.

It’s time for another “Meet with Supervisor Fesko”. The dates and times are: Antelope Valley Community Center Thursday January 9th, 5:30 pm – 7pm; Bridgeport Memorial Hall Tuesday January 14th 5:30 pm – 7 pm; Mammoth Public Library Tuesday February 18th 5:30 pm – 7 pm.    I hope to see you at one of these locations. For government to work well, it takes interaction between the citizens and their elected representatives. These meetings are meant to help me, as your County Supervisor, better understand your views and desires as well as to inform you of decisions and the reasoning behind decisions made by the elected Board of Supervisors.  These are very difficult economical times and the Board will have to make some very difficult decisions in the near future. Due to these meetings, you and the Supervisor will be better informed which in turn will lead to better decisions and government. Please come and be a part of better understanding, solutions and overall a better Mono County.

In closing, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the many District 4 locals that volunteer countless hours throughout the year on a number of County commissions and organizations. I apologize in advance if I inadvertently missed anyone. Special thanks to… Marlys Harper, Helen Nunn, Don Nunn, Steve Nobles, Berry Beck, Mike Booher, Jeff Hunewill, Walt Lehmann, Bob Peters, Benny Romero, Erinn Wells, Dan Anthony, Mike Curti, Arden Gerbig, Mark Langner, Don Morris, Orval Mosby, John Vannoy, Bruce Woodworth, Lauretta Cochran, Victoria Victor, Ned Walsh, Katy Buell, Judy Curti, Dick Petterson, Rose Murray, Steve Marti, John Webb, Bob Dunn. May prosperity, good health and happiness find its way into each of your lives in this coming year. Happy New Year to you and your family.
