April 2013 - Sierra Scoop Column
The Board of Supervisors continue to make great strides in “correcting” many aspects of Mono County government. With the current vacancies, now is the time for the Board to revamp the County and make it into something that everyone can be proud of.
For quite some time, County Employees have felt that they did not have a voice. This new Board has made it clear that this is changing. The Board is open to having frank and direct conversations with every employee and this is being spread throughout every aspect of the organization. This open feeling allows the true talent of all employees to come out and thus make Mono County a better place to work and live.
Here’s an update on community projects… The Antelope Valley Community Center expansion project is moving forward and hopefully has broken ground by the time you read this. The Bridgeport School Street revitalization project is on track for construction this year. Road re-paving in Bridgeport and Lee Vining are also on track for this year.
The Board continues with its Strategic Planning sessions and is working diligently to set a positive path for the future of our County.
STATE OF THE COUNTY – I am planning on holding a “State of the County” public gathering in Bridgeport and Antelope Valley this month, Mammoth will be in the near future. This gathering is the time for the Public to come and have a frank conversation with me as your District 4 Supervisor regarding... well just about anything! These will be informal gatherings where we can sit and talk. Here are the meeting dates and times – Bridgeport, at the new Animal Control Building (Twin Lakes Road) on Tuesday April 16th, 6pm – 8pm. Antelope Valley, at the Community center on Wednesday April 17th, 6 pm – 8 pm. This is your chance to let me know what is of concern to you, ask questions and get frank answers. I hope for a great turn-out. See you all there!
